Top 5 Women Of January 2012

Top 5 women of January 2012, I did a 2011 one to cover the full year the back end of last year, and now I'm doing it a monthly as a top five, these totals maybe contribute to an end of year thing but that's not fully decided yet.

5 - Busy Philipps

Kim Kelly Is My Friend! - it was revisiting the amazing series Freaks and Geeks that put Busy on my mind (Linda Cardellini nearly made the list). As Kim Kelly she was awesome, that is why she gets an easy place on my list. She is the best thing to me on an amazing show (and was the best thing when she joined Dawson's Creek), I would like to see more Cougar Town (I've only had the chance to see a couple of episodes.

Though I've seen very little of her film work, at least one of them is literally the worst film ever made - The Smokers - which is just... (put your own word for excrement here).

Recommend You To Check Out - Freaks and Geeks, like I've already said is an amazing piece of work. Undeclared, which as a lot of the F&G team working on it is also worth checking out and she appears in a few episodes.

4 - Harley Quinn

I never stated any rules to what qualifies as one of the top 5 women so Joker's crazy sidekick Harley Quinn, who was first created for Batman - The Animated Series and I've been watching a lot of this series, Harley (voiced by Arleen Sorkin) is such a brilliant woman.

She is probably the main female character in TAS who I want to show up, when I'm watching an episode.

3 - Charlyne Yi

I wrote that Paper Heart (which she wrote and starred in) could have been better but worked thanks to her adorableness, I find it unfair a lot people criticize her for been ugly, which I don't know where they get it from, she's not Hollywood like but she ain't ugly by any stretch of the imagination.

2 - Tina Fey

Been watching a lot of 30 Rock this past month and Tina Fey (who lost out to Amy Poehler in last year's overall list beats Poehler so far on points). What works with Fey's role as Liz Lemon is her lack of fear in how the character is portrayed.

1 - Kristen Bell

Was it any doubt KB would be number one? I see her been the early front runner for the overall year list and a very likely winner as far as it stands. She gets number one this month thanks to me watching a lot her excellent interaction with Craig Ferguson (and Geoff), them two really have fantastic chemistry.

It will be exciting to look who might potentially join the list.

To make it a top 10... here are the women who just made the list (and will count towards the final total year list)

10 - Maggie Grace - Taken is brilliant / 9 - Jane Krakowski - 30 Rock goodness / 8 - Famke Janssen - as the  absolute best moment in I-Spy and was also in Taken  / 7 - Linda Cardellini - F&G girl  / 6 - Sally Phillips - great in the first series of I'm Alan Partridge and was watching the 8 Out Of 10 Cats DVD and she was bloody hilarious.

Day 2...

So it looks like me and most of the family are going to be no more... my mother, brother, and sister will stick by me, others I can't account for. I have seen another side of family, not that I'm going to call certain "people" that anymore, here are the people that are no more a relation to me -

  • my Nana (Jean) - openly claimed she didn't hear the key bit of information that makes me the one who who wasn't innocent, alluled I was selfish (far from it if I do say so myself) and his blindly sticking by her Son (my uncle) though I am her grandson, she says of course she stood stick by her son but I AM HER FUCKING GRANDSON. 80 year old or not she played a part in destroying this relationship. BYE
  • My Uncle Harry - obvious one here because he was the one argument was with, I can only assume in his 40+ years in this world nobody as ever stood up to him and he didn't like this "little bastard" standing up to him (his words where little bastard, if you saw me little is probably not the word you would use - I like my food!) even stood up all macho to me again today. FUCK FACE SELFISH BASTARD. BYE
  • My Auntie Lorraine - hypocrite, just plain and simple, she is good at pointing out the flaws in other people but what her own or that of her own family, and she as coasted on the same excuses for the past five FUCKING years now. BYE
  • My Cousin Gemma - Harry's daughter. WHAT A FUCKING RETARD, nearly 21 sounds and acts like a 13 year old. Caused havoc for other people by being selfish (acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.
I just wanted it recorded for posterity that this was when it went down, that this was the day I no longer considered these people my family. I feel like the villain and these people have turned somebody mild mannered into a wreck. Sorry for hijacking the usual KB, film or TV nature of the blog, but I couldn't help it.

And yes I am the Marilyn of our family...

The now yearly tradition of my life going to crap...

A new year year means new hope, but as the past 2 years have crap that force a major alteration in my life, 2012 looks to go the same way, so my updates here might become more angry or even more infrequent. At least there is another KB picture to cheer myself up and hopefully anybody else who feels down.

when the wind blows...

I'm not a lover or fighter, so today was scary and out of character for me when I had to be held apart against my uncle (by blood is well - who ever said blood is thicker then water?). You don't know me and you don't know my Uncle, but my Uncle is the sort of person who I call a Karma Houdini (a Karma Houdini is a person who can do crappy stuff and seemingly never get what should come to them) so I felt I had to stand up for myself, which ended up him threatining to punch me in the face, which I called him out on. Anyway here is a picture of KB, which as nothing to do with anything but when does it ever do.

DVD and Blu Ray Update (15/01/2012 - 28/01/2012)

I managed to get a lot of bargains here with a lot not costing more then £1.50 (and a fair few costing no more then a shiny pound). I also doubled my Blu Ray collection (from 4 to 8 - that doesn't sound quite so impressive does it!). This might sound sad but buying and watching DVDs are such a simple joy in my life that actually had a certain element of contentment. So anyway on with he list -

Our Hospitality / Sherlock Jr. - Buster Keaton (only just) is better then Chaplin (I like both, though I know Chaplin in particular as his detractors).

D-Tox - the problem with deciding to collect certain actors or directors is you make yourself buy the crap and the not so good, D-Tox is far from Sylvester Stallone's shining moment, but Stallone until he brought Rocky and Rambo was a 2000s of the not so good.

The Simpsons Season 2 - needed to rebuy this since it entered the twilight zone of lending out and never getting it back (1 of 3 titles this is the case of this fortnight) this was the first full season of the show and the first full season to resemble what the show was at it's peak.

Paper Heart - works just because of the likability of Charlyne Yi, the film I could have felt could have been much more, there's nice moments but it's just missing something.

You Again - I first saw this going to Orlando on a plane and I chose to watch it then (and the reason I brought it now) was for one simple reason... you guessed it? Betty White! Betty White plays the grandmother of some girl who was bullied by one particular girl and then years later she finds out her brother is going to marry this particular girl

The King and Queen Of Moonlight Bay
Rock & Rule
Daddy Day Care

Three Men and A Little Lady - this and King Ralph are probably entirely responsible for how the American's view us Brits. If Danson, Guttenberg and Selleck rapping is your bag then this is the film for you

Near Dark
The King's Speech
The Hunt For Eagle One

Family Guy Season 2 - and the second of today's titles I had to rebuy and coincidentally the second season of an animated family.

Yabba Dabba Dooo

So like I was totally lying (or forgettable) about updating every day for the rest of this month, and I couldn't even keep it going every day. DVD update is coming up tomorrow and some new things are genuinely coming Monday onwards. P.S. doesn't KB look adorable here...

Wednesday 25 January 2012

Wooooooooo

How are you all doing?

been bad with the lack of updates mostly this month, the blog keeps being on the list of things to do but I never get to it, but I'm going to try and rectify it for the rest of this month, all 6 days of it and hopefully get into doing some of the stuff I planned for this blog by early next month.

DVD and Blu Ray Update (26/12/11 - 14/01/12)

Hey peepz, a three week-ish length update which is probably about the size of any of my typical because I didn't buy quite as much on days that I normally would, there is still some cool stuff I brought though, so lets get on with it.

WWE Summerslam 2011 - it's actually quite rare for me to get a WWE PPV DVD within the year it was released (I got this on the 27th so it's just barely) and I haven't had much chance to see a lot of what the WWE is offering have since I got rid of Sky (2007 or 08 I think) but I keep update with results and news, so seeing this, actually gets me a chance to witness any of the feuds of the year first hand for the first time. CM Punk rules so it's good to see him have a big impact here.

The Social Network - really enjoyed it, David Fincher is a director I really enjoy and just liked the tone of the story, it was good to see Rashida Jones and Brenda Song (miles away from London Tipton) in supporting roles, I liked the idea how Mark Zuckerburg loses everybody by the end of his movie and that's his loss.

Jimmy Carr - Being Funny - and he is being funny, the problem is, this is my third live Jimmy Carr DVD I own now and they all merge into one, moreso then any other comedian I own multiple live DVDs of, still funny though, one of the highlights is the heckling section.

Grown Ups - aka Adam Sandler and Friends chill out in a cabin, you know if Chris Farley was alive he would be playing the Kevin James role. There is a lot of good banter between the main actors but it just feels like that - filmed banter - which is like anybody with their mates it probably wouldn't make the best film.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World - Blu Ray buy, a film that visually just hit all the right notes for me even if there is something lacking - maybe it's combing multiple issues of the Scott Pilgrim stories into one movie. Overall it's not bad though.

Bridesmaids - for my money the best film from 2011 I have seen so far. It's funny and it's got a story that I liked. I thought Kristen Wiig was great in the lead, my only problem was the trailer was a bit misleading I thought it would be more of an ensemble and Ellie Kemper despite been one of those on the front cover does get a bit sidelined.

Three Kings - David O. Russell is by all accounts of it a full on PROPER DICK, even getting into an actual fight on the set of this movie with George Clooney, when he was berating extras (also check out Russell's full on screaming match with Lily Tomlin on the set of I Heart Huckabees), but going back to what my point is at his work is better then many, Three Kings (is third film) is probably still his best.

The Bodyguard

As Good As It Gets - Jack Nicholson shines very, very well and the film highlights come thanks to him, Helen Hunt just doesn't do it for me in this movie, she is actually fairly weak (maybe I'm saying this because I'm just not a fan).

Switching Parents
Logan's War
Little Miss Sunshine
How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days
The Gauntlet
The Hand That Rocks The Cradle
The Inbetweeners Movie
Assassins
Avenging Angelo
Seems Like Old Times
Oz Season 1
Panic Room: Special Edition
Maniac Cop 2
The Lost Continent
One Million Years, B.C.
The Quartermass Experiment
My Blueberry Nights

See you all really soooooooon...

How's your day been?

My day as been pretty much the normal, nothing really exciting to report - I realise my 2012 blog entries so far have been very samey - me complaining about not having anything interesting to write and a random pic of KB - only the second part of that is alright. I might start doing some top 3/5/10 whatever of stuff I like or dislike. I was thinking picking 3 of my favourite episodes of TV shows I love, my favourite spoofs, you know the normal sort of stuff, watch this space.

Title Goes Here

Nothing much exciting to say at the minute, trying to get my DVDs in a suitable order, it was easier in the good old days (i.e a couple of years ago) when I used to display my DVDs A-Z, but now I've changed the order - more by certain actors, directors, labels, genres etc - and there is also the problem of lack of space. Anyway here's another KB picture for you.

My Life Is Pretty Stale At The Moment

I don't exactly have exciting updates on here because their is absolutely nothing exciting happening in my life at the moment. Anyway here is another KB pic for your seeing pleasure.

Bell Again

I have about 30 pictures of KB on my hard drive that I haven't put up yet, and there is more I'll add to that 30 probably.

Been watching Party Down, a very underrated show I got last year and watched fairly quickly, so this is the second time around. It's created by Rob Thomas, who created Veronica Mars and as a strong cast including Ken Marino, Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Ryan Hansen and Lizzy Caplan (who's so appealing here). KB appears in a few episodes and there is so many Veronica Mars connections in this series, check it out if you haven't.

Back and That

I've still been a touch under the weather, which is annoying. Still been coughing a lot plus I had the added bonus of an absest in my mouth so been just watching DVDs all day to basically get my mind away from stuff, but anyway I should be back to normal and to prove it a Kristen Bell picture - lovely.
